M. Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan

Mr. M. Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, former Cabinet Secretary, Government of Bangladesh is currently a Senior Advisor at BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD). Mr. Bhuiyan completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s in English Literature from the University of Dhaka. He pursued further studies in public policy at Curtin University, Perth, Australia and at the University of Birmingham, UK.

In his panoramic life Mr. Bhuiyan worked as Cabinet Secretary of the Government of Bangladesh from October 2011 until October 2015, as Secretary, Economic Relations Division of the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, as a Member (Physical Infrastructure) of the Planning Commission and Chairman of PetroBangla, as Commercial Counsellor at the Bangladesh Mission in Dubai. He acted as the Alternate Executive Director of the World Bank Group in Washington, DC from November 2015 to October 2019 representing Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, and Sri Lanka. He was a faculty at the Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre and the Rural Development Academy. He has widely published on public policy and development management in different professional journals and newspapers. He has visited various training institutions as a guest speaker.

Our sports enthusiast and organisational strategist alumnus, Mr. Bhuiyan, was the Chairman of Officers’ Club Dhaka and President of Bangladesh Billiards and Snooker Federation. He was also a Vice-President of Bangladesh Scouts.
